Each year Redeemer takes a special offering at Thanksgiving – an offering that is above and beyond our normal gifts. This year the Finance Team has dedicated these gifts to Advent House Ministries in Lansing.
Redeemer has been supporting the Advent House Ministries for 10+ years through their sack lunch meals – which is where groups sign up provide 100 sack lunches one weekend a month.
As the needs of the homelessness and poverty have changed and become more apparent, Advent House has expanded bringing aid in a timely and effective manner. Some programs, in addition to sack lunches, include:
Weekend Day Shelter – serving 34,000 meals a year Children Literacy Program – serving 400-500 children Life, Literacy, Employment – helping adults gain GED & employment Housing – working one-on-one to maintain a household.
In order to help Advent House meet their expanded services Redeemer has made an annual commitment of $4,000, in addition to the sack lunches. 100% of the Thanksgiving Offering will be given, which is in addition to this annual commitment.
Advent House Ministries, Inc. is located in the heart of Lansing and has been helping people out of poverty and homelessness for 30+ years. It is their hope to provide respite from life’s struggles and create opportunities for children and adults to become self-sufficient and fulfill their potential.
Redeemer Church is excited to support this ministry.
