TEACHING SERIES FOR ADVENT – What Are You Expecting This Christmas?
Too often we get to the other side of Christmas and realize that we’ve let all the presents, the parties and the shopping crowd out the presence of God. God gets lost in all the activity, cookie baking and gift giving. But the presence of God isn’t the only thing we miss in this holiday season. We miss the song of the angels, the stories of God’s people and even the light of Christ when our lives are too full – too busy to take it all in. What Are You Expecting This Christmas? will remind us not to let the busyness of this season crowd out the presence of God. Join us each week in worship as we explore the Christmas story…and remind ourselves to make this year different so that we don’t miss the central reason we celebrate this holy season.
GIVING TREE UPDATE – Sunday, December 15th is the last day to turn in gifts for our “Giving Tree” families. We are so excited to share the joy of Christmas with those in our community who need a little help! All gifts and food items will be distributed on Thursday, December 19th from 9:30 am to noon. If you would like to help deliver packages, and are 18 years old or older, join us by 9:15am this Thursday morning in DeWitt! Now that the branches of our Giving Tree are bare, can you help fill them with new socks and underwear (all sizes). These items will be given to those in need in our community. Thank you for your generous support of our Giving Tree.

YEAR END GIFTS – Year-end is a perfect time to take stock and reflect on our many blessings including God’s greatest gift to us, His Son, Jesus Christ. Why not make a special effort to honor Him in your giving – it may be the most important gift you give. Cash is the most convenient and popular way to give a year end gift and the full amount of a gift will qualify for a 2019 charitable income tax deduction as long as it is received or postmarked no later than December 31, 2019. Please note the church office is closed on Tuesday, December 31st but donations can be dropped off in the office until Monday, December 30th at 4:30pm or Sunday, December 29th during one of the services. They can also be made through the mobile app, text-to-give (simply text the dollar amount to 517-731-0518) or online at www.myredeemer.church / Give Now until 11:59pm on 12/31. There are also other ways to give – appreciated property (stocks, bonds, real estate or mutual funds), or an old life insurance policy. Special gifts at year end can be used for needed items that cannot be provided by our annual budget. If you have any questions regarding special giving – please contact Diane in the church office.
St. Johns Campus January Teaching Series – “A Faith That Works”
Wouldn’t it be great if life came with a how-to manual? Well, if we dig deep enough, we will find tucked into the back of the New Testament the short book of James. James is a letter that serves as a how-to manual for the Christian life. When we deal with life’s trials, contentions, and a lack of faith, James teaches us that we can still have joy in the midst of our circumstances. This January, begin the new year with A Faith That Works. Discover a genuine faith in Christ that will see you through the ups and downs, the twists and turns that this new year is sure to bring.
LIFE GROUP GUIDES – Life Group Guides are now available each week in the worship folder, along with a note-taking guide. Take the message from
Sunday into Monday, and go more in-depth with a Life Group Guide. Connect your real-life experiences this week with your walk of faith…either individually or in a group. Click here to find out more about Life Groups.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED at WESLEY WOODS – Over the years, many of you have heard of the Michigan Conference camp – Wesley Woods. Several kids from Redeemer have attended summer camp at this location and have enjoyed their experience. At this time Wesley Woods is currently going thru major repair and updating, and is looking for volunteers to help. Please LIKE the “Wesley Woods Camp & Retreat Center” Facebook page to watch for upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and our wish list. For questions, contact Interim Director, Wendy Elliott at 269-721-8291 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
St. Johns Campus Office is open Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30am-4:30pm, Wednesdays from 9:30am-3:30pm & Tuesdays from 1:30-5:00pm. The office is closed Tuesday mornings for staff meetings in DeWitt and all day on Fridays.
PIZZA WITH THE PASTOR – If you are newer to Redeemer we would love to have you join us at Pizza with the Pastor. This is a time for you and your family to meet with Pastor Rod, Pastor Tim, staff, and others who are new to Redeemer Church and join in a casual conversation. Reserve your spot today. There is no cost to attend. To sign up, email Wendy Elliott at email@example.com.
OFFERING ENVELOPES – Many members of our church family feel that having preprinted offering envelopes is a convenient way to give their weekly/monthly tithes and offerings. St. Johns Campus will be making the switch to the DeWitt Campus mailed envelopes for the coming year. Once a month these envelopes are sent out for the upcoming month and include the envelopes for each Sunday of the month and any special offering for the month. If you like the convenience of envelopes and would like to be added to this system please contact Marie in the St. Johns campus office at 224-6859, or email her at Redeemer.firstname.lastname@example.org so we can include you in the mailing for the first of the year. Please respond even if you had envelopes and used them this year, or you haven’t had them and would like to have envelopes. Note: The use of offering envelopes help us to know how you want your contributions to be used. We also offer Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT) and Text-to-Give 517-731-0518.
