Sunday, February 23rd
Each year, on the last Sunday in February, Redeemer raises money for Blankets. To many of us, a blanket is often an insignificant possession that we take for granted, but when an individual’s world is turned upside down, a blanket becomes a tool of survival for warmth, comfort, and even shelter.
This year Blanket Sunday donations will go to two organizations: Church World Services and SafeCenter.
Church World Services provides blankets and other assistance to low-income families and those impacted by emergencies in the U.S. and around the world. From natural disasters like earthquakes and hurricanes, to the elderly and economically disadvantaged families – CWS responds with blankets and other necessities. In 2019 alone, CWS distributed nearly 60,000 blankets in just the United States!
SafeCenter is a domestic and physical violence prevention and intervention program for Clinton and Shiawassee Counties. It is funded through grants and donations. SafeCenter provides a 24-hour Crisis Hotline, emergency shelter, basic living needs, housing assistance, and many other supportive services. Families receive blankets to assist them with a fresh start.
