“Building authentic relationships while connecting and applying the love and life of Jesus Christ in everyday life.”
Adult Groups at Redeemer Church take on many forms. No two groups are alike as each person’s walk of faith, and spiritual growth journey is uniquely her/his own. For that reason, a variety of group opportunities are available. The primary group structure used at Redeemer Church is called Life Groups. Life Groups are intentionally smaller gatherings of people who meet for 35-45 minutes and grow through fellowship, biblical teaching, and prayer. It is at the intersection of biblical narrative and everyday life that we have the highest potential for spiritual growth. For that reason, each week we provide Dig Deeper Guides that connects to the weekly message to guide your Group discussion.
Life Groups 101
Life Groups are groups of 3-5 individuals or couples that meet around coffee shop tables, living rooms, even on park benches at any time of day. Smaller is simpler, and simpler allows for deeper, deeper fellowship, deeper connection, deeper growth.
Develop authentic relationship is a vital part of Life Group community. Based on the Acts 2:42 model, Life Groups incorporate fellowship as a fundamental component in building authentic relationship driving the spiritual growth process.
Utilizing the message and teaching in worship, the Bible is the only book needed in a Life Groups. Today’s culture is filled with Bible owners. At Redeemer Church, we seek to be not only readers of the Word, but doers as well.
It is at the intersection of real life, and the Biblical narrative, that life transformation takes place. It is the moment when the study guide is put down, and the real trials and tribulations of life are addressed from the perspective of God’s Word in the community of faith, where the Holy Spirit is actively able to engage in our lives. These are the moments that Life Groups are designed to bring about.
Life Groups are not your traditional small group study. Life Groups are not Bible Studies. While these have their value, Life Groups seek to create the environment where real life events and day to day faith experiences connect in Christian community.
All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer. (Acts 2:42)
Spiritual Growth Plan
The Spiritual Growth Plan is an intentional model for spiritual growth at Redeemer Church. There are three primary stages to the Spiritual Growth Plan and seven key elements that are worked through both vertically and horizontally.
Each of us begins our journey of spiritual growth through an encounter with God. It’s an experience of God in our lives that drives us into our journey of faith. This is where we all begin, an encounter with the love and life of Jesus Christ. Since this is where our faith life begins, this is where our Spiritual Growth Plan starts. At Redeemer UMC we intentionally create worship events where individuals can have an encounter with the love and life of Jesus Christ. As we grow in our faith and center our lives on Christ, we grow in our commitment to worship. More info …
Having encountered God in worship we continue down the path of spiritual growth as we begin to intentionally engage with the love and life of Jesus Christ. At Redeemer UMC, there are three primary ways that we intentionally engage with God. We engage with God through Scripture, prayer, and Life Groups. As we intentionally engage with God in these three spiritual practices we allow God to work in our hearts and lives. As we mature in our prayer life, our engagement with Scripture, and in Christian community our faith and experience of God grow exponentially. More info …
Having encountered and engaged with the love and life of Jesus Christ through worship, Bible reading, prayer, and Life Groups our hearts are forever changed. As God works in us, our motivations and desires in life evolve and we begin to live our lives with an intentional outward focus. For this reason, the next element in the Spiritual Growth Plan focuses on how we express our faith in the world around us. At Redeemer UMC we believe there are three primary ways that we express our faith and trust in Christ: service, generosity, and influence. As we mature in these three areas we move toward a Christ-centered life of faith. More info…
